Happy Birthday Owen!

Our baby boy turned 3 years old on Monday....he's officially a BIG BOY now!  Wow, I can't believe its already been 3 years!

This is the first year that Owen has actually realized it was his birthday and gotten excited about it....so Josh and I decided to take off and spend the day with him!  It was a day all about Owen!!

He was so excited when he woke up because he thought he was going to his birthday party...and was really disappointed when we told him that his party wasn't til Saturday.  Ava Kate was the only thing that cheered him up!  He LOVES his baby sister!

After getting cheered up, we started the day with chocolate chip muffins!

 Our little chefs...

"Like my hat?"

He was really excited about opening his birthday presents and was very strategic about which present he opened and when.  The only things he asked for were:  Puzzles, Cars, and trains (all of which he already has)....so we just added to his collection!

 He LOVES his puzzles....

 making an EXTRA large sandwich...

 ....and making daddy eat it!

After presents, a yummy breakfast, and lots of playing, we dropped Ava Kate off at daycare and headed to Boingo Bounce....

Owen's birthday party has been booked at Boingo Bounce for about 2 months, but we've never been there.  So, we thought it would be a great birthday activity!

He wasn't quite sure what to think at first, so he made Josh try each bounce house and slide first!

Once he warmed up....He was a wild man!!

After about an hour and fifteen minutes, he was wiped out!!  And so were mommy and daddy!

After all the  fun at Boingo Bounce we were starving!  We gave Owen a few choices for lunch and he chose Grubs....because he wanted a corn dog! Ha!

pretending to be an alligator while we were waiting on our lunch.....

We were re-energized after lunch and decided to go see a movie!  The Lorax in 3D!

Apparently 2:15 on Monday is the time to go to the movies....we were the only ones in the theater!

 eating his (fat-free) popcorn...

a few games on the way out of the theater....

After a long, fun day...he passed out in the car holding Ava Kate's hand.  So sweet!!

Thanks to Beema, Papa Joe, and Amanda...we have a new Razorback football player!

running a few plays....

Happy Birthday!

Sibling love...

God has blessed us with two sweet and loving kids who absolutely adore each other!

This video is from the week Owen and Ava Kate were home sick with RSV.  They were feeling much better at this point, but still not ready for daycare.  Watch the whole video...the end is the best part!

Just to clarify, Ava Kate is not sitting up by herself...Josh is holding her up, but you can't really see it in the video.

Snow Day....

We had our one and only snow day on February 13th.  It only lasted a day, so we decided to stay home and play in the little bit of snow that we got!

Owen was so excited to see the snow when he woke up.  Apparently he doesn't remember the snow from last year because when he first looked outside, he said "I like snow, I've never seen it!"

Our "official" snow day included:  pjs, movies, food, playing in the snow, more movies, and more food!

Ava Kate had her own kind of fun....

Owen couldn't wait to go out and play in the snow!   So...we layered up, gathered our "snow equipment" (aka beach toys) and headed out to play.  Josh and I had to take turns, so one of us could stay inside with Ava Kate.  I took the first round....

We started gathering snow to build a snowman, but that quickly turned into making and throwing snow balls...

Owen thought was hilarious to throw the snow balls at daddy who was watching from the door.  He actually got him a few times when Josh opened the door to grab some snow for retaliation.

 Our mini snow man...

After we finished building the snowman, it was daddy's turn to come out and play.  Owen couldn't wait to have a snowball fight with Josh....so we made a lot of snow balls before while daddy was getting layered up! Owen definitely had an advantage!!

the snow ball fight...

Owen had so much fun and would have stayed out there all day!  We finally made him come in after about two hours...for some hot chocolate and a nap!
