Daddy's Little Helper...

Owen has become quite the little helper lately! Every time we head to the laundry room...he's two steps behind us (and by we, I mean Josh, because he does 90% of the laundry).

He's all about loading the washer and dryer all by himself. He takes each piece of clothing and puts them one by one into the washer/dryer. It's a slow process, but he gets job done!

When everything is loaded, he says "beep, beep" and points up...which means he's ready to turn in on! The kids just loves to do laundry! He's going to make a great husband one day!

Razorback Rocking Horse

Today on Kelly's Korner, It's Show Us Your Life: What Do You Make?

So...We decided to link up and share about our new company and product!

The Rockin' Razorback
How it all started...

Summerford Designs started after Owen's first birthday. Before Owen's birthday I asked Josh if he thought he could build Owen a rocking horse for his first birthday, because Josh always claims that he "could build that" to everything we see! After perusing the Internet looking for ideas for building a rocking horse with nothing really jumping out at us....we decided he needed a "Razorback" rocking horse. Again we turned to the Internet for ideas with the understanding that "if it isn't on the Internet, then it does not exist!", well apparently the rocking razorback did not exist because we came up empty. We spent a good bit of time debating over what a "rocking razorback" would be. Then we spent the next couple of weeks cutting, sanding, measuring, balancing, and painting the first "Rockin' Razorback". We unveiled the rocking horse at Owen's birthday party just thinking that we had made something special for our little man, and no future plans to make any more.

Owen absolutely loved it! He honestly gets on it everyday...and says "Go, Go, Go" (which is what he says every time he sees a Razorback)

After people found out that we had made the "Rockin' Razorback" and we started getting request for more....we started Summerford Designs, Inc. and the process of obtaining the collegiate license to sell this Razorback product. We weren't sure what this would entail, but we were willing to look into it. A special thanks to Erin for getting us the information and push to get going! We started with what I like to call "baby steps", ie. just looking to see if it was something that we would be able to peruse...But after a lot of prayer and getting through the initial steps, we decided to jump on board. It was a lengthy process, with lots of paper work, phone calls, and meeting...BUT we made it!

And now, the Rockin' Razorback is officially on the market!!!

Enjoying Outside..

A truck ride to the pond, feeding of the ducks, silliness in the backyard, t-ball, playing with Honey, and wrestling with daddy! We had a great time, but Owen's FAVORITE thing was rough housing with Daddy! I think my mama's boy is turning out to be a daddy's boy!

Calling the ducks by yelling "duck", "duck", "duck"

Silliness in the backyard until "the accident"! Apparently, somewhere between running, sliding, throwing and jumping, Owen managed to step in Honey's poo and smear it all over his shoe, leg, and pants. It was so gross!! Needless to say, we had to take a time out to clean up and change clothes before heading out front for some more fun.

Owen has gotten really good at T-ball. This picture doesn't show case his skills, but he has started holding the bat with two hands and hitting the ball about 6'. The best part is how excited he gets! I need to try and get it on video.

Josh throwing Owen in the air....this is one of Owen's favorite things. He would do it for every, but he's definitely getting too heavy for that!

Friday Festivities...

It was family fun night at daycare Friday night, but it was also rEcess...so we split! Josh went to rEcess and I took Owen to his party. Here are a few pictures from family fun night. Each room had games for the kids to play, but Owen spent a majority of the time in his room. I don't think he understood that it was okay to play in all the rooms.

playing putt-putt...
bowling...

fishing...
Owen was most excited about getting his face painted. He waited patiently in line while we talked about what he wanted painted on his face....he decided on a baseball. When it was his turn he sat down in the chair, told her baseball, and let her paint about 3/4 of the ball and he was done! ha! So it ended up looking more like an unfinished golf ball....

After family fun night, we headed over to
rEcess. We typically have rEcess the first Friday of the month, but with all the snow it had to be rescheduled. It was a little different because when joined another group and had it at a different location, but the kids didn't seem to mind. The theme was Medieval, so large group consisted of princesses, swords, shields, and horses! The kids had a blast having sword fights and horse races.

Owen was in awe of all the activities and so excited to get a sword!

Valentines...

Valentines = Craft projects at the Summerford house! Owen made a special Valentine for mommy and daddy...with a little help. I cut out all the little hearts and put glue on them at Owen's request....then he put together his masterpiece!

Ready to get started...

so proud of himself...

I think shaking the glitter was his favorite part...
signing his artwork...
After he finished Daddy's valentine, he moved on Toy Story valentines for his classmates. They came with Toy Story pencils, but we traded them out for Smarties!

I think Owen ate just as many Smarties as he gave away!

We woke Owen up a little early on Valentine's morning so he would have time to play with his Valentine surprise.
