Kansas City - Take 3....Great Wolf Lodge

After spending most of the day outside watching Josh compete in the tough mudder, we were all HOT and ready for the water park at Great Wolf Lodge!!

Enjoying the big boy sides while Ava Kate and I played in the kiddy pool and lounged in the lazy river....

Owen was a wild man....after just a few times down each slide he was ready to explore the water park  on his own. He went from one slide to the next that through the water tower over and over and over.  I was tired just watching him....he definitely had a blast and slept great!!

Ava Kate on the other hand was much slower paced.  She did the baby slides a few times, but all the water falls/water spouts were more her speed!

The kids liked the "Wolf Den" almost as much as the water park!! Bunk beds with their own TV....so much fun!!  They did fight over what to watch...because Owen wanted to watch cartoons and Ava Kate wanted cartoons!  I can't believe the "football thing" starts at such a young age!!

They were both early risers....I think in hopes that they would be able to hit the water part first thing,  but it was not open quite so early....so we explored all things Great Wolf Lodge.  Owen loved all the "animal" and Ava Kate was completely terrified!

After a late breakfast we headed to the water part for some more fun...

Ava Kate's favorite thing.....lounging with a capri sun!

Our wild man/little fish.....

Sister was a little more into it round 2....

Kansas City - Take 2....Tough Mudder

The next day we headed to the Tough Mudder.!  Here's the crew all clean before the race....along with "Forrest Gump with his box of chocolate and his "redneck" side kick!

Daddy with his fan club....

lined up and ready to start...

the first obstacle....running through fire!

Josh and Tim coming up on another obstacle....

daddy's little fan club....

Ava Kate was not a big fan of daddy being all muddy....

he made it to the other side...

daddy's biggest fan...

It was hard to keep up with the guys so we missed quite a few of their obstacles, but it was still fun to see all the events...

stylin' in her shades.....

the monkey bars....

really dirty by mile 3....

the kids were definitely keeping their distance....

they had to take turns carrying each other through this obstacle...the kids thought this was really funny!

running to the last 2 obstacles.....

this was the kids favorite obstacle by far.....and they were soooo excited when daddy made it on the first try!

the last obstacle and the most painful...all the wires hanging down socked them as they ran through!  AND Josh lost a shoe shoe had to back!

they finished without any major injuries...Yay!

sporting daddy's tough mudder sweat band....

Kansas City Take 1 - The American Girl Store

What more could a 2 year old girl want for her Birthday than a trip to the American Girl Store!!!

We were heading to Kansas City for Josh's Tough Mudder Competition the weekend before Ava Kate's birthday, so we decided to go a little early and let the Birthday Girl experience the American Girl Store and pick out her own birthday present.  She LOVE, LOVE, LOVED it!!!

mesmerized by the window display....

Her reaction as she finally made it through the front doors....

So many babies to choose from....

Owen didn't want to have any part of it!!  He spent most of the time playing on the phone, but decided it was okay to try out the doctor kit just once. Ha!  Such a tropper!

She had to play with each and every doll, carry them, pat them to sleep, and of course pull them in the wagon and push them in the stroller...

She kept putting babies in the stroller and heading to the front door....she did this over and over!!  Little Miss was determined to take those babies home with her!! It was pretty funny!

Finally decided on the Bitty Baby twins with blond hair...

She was so excited when the girl took the babies out of the box and let her carry them home!!  She quickly named them "Owen" and "Ava Kate"!!

After spending a few hours in the American Girl store, it was only fair that Owen get to go to the LEGO store!
