Carving Pumpkins....

Halloween kinda snuck up on us this year.  We did our annual pumpkin patch trip to pick out the perfect pumpkins but didn't get around to carving them til last minute!  So...we gathered all our pumpkin carving necessities and headed to Beema and Papa Joe's for our regular Sunday night dinner with an added after dinner activity of Pumpkin carving!!

We're officially ready for Halloween!

Painting pumpkins....

Papa Bart and Gigi were in town for the weekend and the kids were in heaven!  One of the highlights...painting/putting stickers on their very own pumpkins!!

Both kids really enjoyed carving pumpkins this year.  Ava Kate jumped right in to help clean out the "guts"....Owen, on the other hand, took a little while to warm up to the idea of touching the gooey stuff!

After a little coaxing, Owen decided to get in on the action...with the help of a few tools!

 Owen looked through some pictures on the internet and decided on a Superman and a scary face pumpkin.  We had originally planned to let Miss Ava Kate paint a pumpkin, but she had so much fun with the "cleaning" process that she was ready for a bath and bed!

Owen was so excited about lighting the pumpkins.  He put the candle in and sat back and waited for Josh to light them.  He was jumping up and down saying "look, look"....it's the little things (that I hope we will alway remember)!!

Pumpkin Carving

This years pumpkin carving was eventful! Owen wasn't really a fanof cleaning out the pumkins, but LOVED painting his pumkin.I think we may have an artist on our hands!! Ha!

Owen was not a big fan of touching the pumpkin guts....he's facial expression was priceless!

After cleaning out the big pumpkins, we let Owen paint his pumpkin. This was definitely Owen's favorite part of the night. He was an artist at work with a mission to paint every inch of his pumpkin as well as his legs and toes! Lets just say that we went straight to the bathtub once he finished his masterpiece!
