Rhea Lana

Danielle and I hit the Rhea Lana sale a few weeks ago and made a hall on some adorable baby girl clothes!

Danielle is expecting a baby girl in July, so we got to early to the mommy to be sale!  We had so much fun picking out clothes for baby Cunningham and Miss Ava Kate!

They had soooooo many baby girl clothes to choose from!  Baby Cunningham and Ava Kate are definitely set on clothes until next fall....they even have a matching summer outfit!

Josh and I have been going to Rhea Lana since before Owen was born, but this was probably my most  successful shopping trip yet!! Owen only got 2 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts because there were very few 3T things to choose from.  Ava Kate, on the other hand, got so many things that I had a hard time choosing a "few" of my favorites for the blog!

Ava Kate - 5 months

Our baby girl is growing up so fast!  She has developed quite the personality and can light up the room with her smile!  And...she officially has us all wrapped around her little finger, especially Owen!

Things you're doing now....

  • You weigh 14 lbs 6 oz  and are in the 90th percentile across the board

  • You're wearing 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers

  • You're still drinking breast milk, but only nursing first thing in the morning and at night

  • You're kind of on a schedule.  You eat at 7, 10, 1, and 4 throughout the day and then wake up at least one time a night to nurse

  • You typically go to bed around 9 and wake up between 6 to 7

  • You're still sleeping in mommy and daddy's room at night in the co-sleeper

  • You're a pretty happy baby...You like smile (with you're whole body) all the time

  • You also like to laugh at mommy and daddy...but you still make us work for it!  (we got it on video once so I'll have to try and up load it)

  • You absolutely LOVE you're big brother and have him wrapped around your finger

  • You love to watch Owen at all times and he loves to give you hugs and kisses!

  • You have something called torticollis (meaning that some of the muscles in your neck are a little tight and make you hold your head tilted) so we're stretching you and helping you spend less time on you're back
  • You've started doing a lot more tummy time and actually seem to enjoy it now

(this picture was from a few weeks ago when you were still having trouble holding your head up)

  • You are such a Happy Girl in the mornings!  You wake up with a smile on your face and are soooo excited you see us coming to get you!

  • You're started trying to grab everything....and mommy's hair is one of your favorites!

  • You're still lovin' you're paci!  You've learned how to pull it out of your mouth but haven't quite figured out how to get it back in your mouth yet. You try over and over and over again until you get really frustrated and mommy, daddy, or Owen come to help

  • Bath time is still your favorite

  • You've really started to enjoy your exersaucer and have figured out how to push the buttons and chew on the toys

  • You have started babbling and just recently started yelling/squealing

  • You rolled over for the first time (from tummy to back) on your 5 month birthday!

  • You still haven't figured out how to roll from your back to your tummy, but you're getting really close

  • You LOVE you're Sophie!  You would chew on it all the time if you could figure out how to get it in your mouth more.

  • You were diagnosed with RSV on you 5 month birthday! (Owen had it too)  You had a rough week with a snoty nose, congestions, a cough, and fever, but with some meds and lovin' we all made it through.

  • The RSV zapped your appetite and personality, so we're just now getting "our" Ava Kate back

  • You're starting to drool a lot and chew on you're hands all the time...so teething may be in your near future

  • Your favorite toys right now are:  Sophie, the cow, and anything you can get in your mouth

  • You've started showing interest in food.  You watch our every move at dinner and have started grabbing for mommies plate/fork when you're sitting in my lap.  I think we'll let you try some cereal here in the next few weeks

Valentines continued...

Toy Story Valentines and Suckers...

Valentine's Day kinda snuck up on us this year.  Owen didn't start back to daycare til the end of January and he moved up to the 3 year old class with all new friends.....so when it came to valentines we were just getting settled into our new routine and Owen was just getting to know everyone.

We didn't get around to doing Valentines until the day before and Josh and I had a meeting that night.  So.... I pulled the class "list" that afternoon and wrote all the kid's names on the Valentines so Owen and Beema could add the finishing touches that night.  As you can tell from the pics, the suckers were Owen's favorite part!!

When we were doing Valentines (the day before) we realized that Owen's name had been left off the "list".  It made me a little sad to think that he may not get any Valentines, so we sent a few from mommy, daddy, and Ava Kate.....but it turned out that we had nothing to worry about.  He got a TON of Valentines and was excited about each and every one of them.

When he got home from school that day, he showed us every Valentine and had to lay them ALL out before we could go to dinner!  It was so cute!

That night we enjoyed a very romantic dinner at Chick-fil-a!

Owen was fascinated by the Cow.  He tried to get his attention throughout dinner by yelling "hey cow" and then he would "moo" at him.  He was really confused about why the cow was not mooing back..Ha!

We ended the day with a few Valentines from mommy and daddy.

Genetics Appointment

Owen had a follow up genetics appointment a few weeks ago.  We're continuing to do these appointments at the Lowell clinic every 3-6 months.  Our geneticist, Dr. Kahler, is still not traveling to Lowell so we saw Dr. Garnica again.

Appointment Stats:
Weight - 33 lbs 1 oz
Height - 37 inches tall
Head Circumference - 30

The appointment went as usual...we met with the geneticist, a nutritionist, and then had labs drawn.  Dr. Garnica was a little concerned about Owen's labs from August.  Apparently two of his labs were high, but only slightly too high.  This was news to us and kinda frustrating since the report we got in August was that everything looked good.  After talking with our crew at ACH, it was explained that the increase could have been due to a number of things and that they weren't too concerned because they were only 1-2 points too high....which made us feel a lot better.  The lab results came back about 1.5 weeks after the appointment and both were 30 points less than the labs in August, indicating that his liver is functioning normally...or "normal" for Owen.  Yay!

Josh and I have been a little concerned about Owen's excessive sweating, so we mentioned it to Dr. Garnica.  Owen frequently wakes up with a large circle of sweat on his pillow and completely drenched.  He also seems to sweat excessively, to the point that his head is soaked, with minimal activity.  This is not necessarily a new thing, but we've noticed it a lot more lately and thought it was worth mentioning.  So....after some thought, Dr. Garnica seems to think that Owen might be hypoglycemic during these times of excessive sweating...and now wants us to start checking his blood sugar during the night for a few weeks.  They sent us home with everything we need....but we have not started the testing.  Everything with Owen is kind of an experiment.  He's still the only one is Arkansas with VLCAD and Dr. Kahler is the only geneticist in Arkansas that has seen VLCAD patients other than Owen.  So...we decided to hold off on testing until we were able to talk everything over with Dr. Kahler.  We just really don't want to put Owen through anything else, unless it is completely necessary.  Hopefully Dr. Kahler will get back with us in the next week or so and have a plan for us moving forward.
