3 months

Owen was 3 months old last Friday. He's becoming such a big boy! He is smiling all the time and has really started playing with toys. It's so crazy to see our baby actually playing with toys...he's not suppose to be old enough to do that. I can't believe he's growing up so fast. Three weeks ago he weighed in at 11 lbs 7 oz and was 23 inches long. We go to the doctor next week for shots so we'll find out how many pounds he's packed on in the past couple of weeks.

Our little man

Things you're doing now..

  • You're still wearing size 1 diapers
  • You're wearing 0-3 month clothes, but I have a feeling you will be moving up soon
  • You are so happy in the morning...it's my favorite time with you. You just sit there cooing and smiling at mommy and daddy
  • You love to eat your fist
  • You've started blowing spit bubbles all the time...you might have to start wearing a bib
  • You are losing your hair...I think you may be completely bald next week
  • You're no longer being swaddled at night. You're wearing little sleepers and sleeping on your tummy
  • You're still sleeping in your pac-n-play in mommy and daddy's room
  • You love bath time...you just splash and coo the whole time
  • You really like being outside
  • You're new favorite toy is your exersaucer...you've figured out how to push the toys that light up and play music
  • You've started sitting in your bumbo, but only tolerate it for about 15 minutes
  • You really like your play mat but can't seem to figure out how to get the toys to your mouth
  • You've only laughed out loud one time in you're sleep

Hey!

Yummy!!

Summer fun..

We have had a busy summer so far. We've been on two road trips to West Memphis and Nashville to visit friends. Lets just say packing is not what it use to be....we had so much stuff we had to leave Honey (our dog) behind with the grandparents. Here are a few picture from our trips.

Way too much stuff for just 3 people...

Snuggling with Aunt Anna

Owen posing with "princess" Emma Gayle

Lily and Owen met for the first time..
I think it was Love at first sight!

Bonding with Ashley...

We've also been hanging out at the pool a lot. I think Owen has been enjoying all the sunbathing, but getting in the pool is a different story. He loves bath time but is not to sure about the cold pool water. He's only made it in about waist deep...but I think he'll start enjoying it more when the water warms up. He may not be loving the cold water but he's definitely loving his water taxi.

We only made it to the first step..
the water was a little too cold for Owen

He can sleep anywhere...

Owen went to the lake for the first time about two weeks ago. He didn't actually get in the lake but enjoyed riding on the boat. He looked so cute in his life jacket...even though it was bigger than him. We had so much fun...I think there will be a lot more trips to the lake in our future.

Owen is out of surgery!

Owen finally got into surgery at 12:15 after a few delays and concerns about anesthesia. After the longest hour and 15 minutes of our lives we got news that he was in recovery. This was a huge relief, but the news from the anesthesiologist was concerning. Apparently Owen's O2 levels were dropping during surgery and there were some concerns about apnea. However, since he went into recovery he has been doing just great with a consistent O2 level at 100%, and breathing good.

Owen waiting for surgery (he's not really as excited as he looks)

We finally got our little man back at 2:45 and by 3:00 he had already started eating again and took a bottle of Pedialite

Owen's Surgery

Please keep Owen in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow as he goes in for hernia surgery at 10:30 a.m. Owen is having an inguinal hernia repaired. This is a common surgery on infants; however, with Owen's fatty acid disorder it becomes more complicated. Owen cannot go for extended periods of time without eating, but since he is going to be put under for the surgery he has to fast for hours leading up to the surgery. We have spent a lot of time on the phone this past week, with Children's and our surgeon, trying to come up with the best protocol to follow to ensure that Owen does not have any problems. We think we have a good plan; however, it will be a long and stressful day for all of us as we anxiously await his return to us following surgery and his first bottle.

Thanks

Happy Birthday

We're a little behind...but Owen is 2 months old! He's getting so big! At his 2 month check-up he weighted in at 10 lbs 8oz. and was 22.5 inches long. According to the growth chart, he is in the 25th percentile for height and weight and in the 60th percentile for head circumference..I guess he's really smart! Owen also got he first set of shots...he was not a big fan. He didn't run fever, but he was fussy all night.

What you're doing now...

  • You have officially moved up to size 1 diapers (pampers swaddlers)

  • You're finally wearing 0-3 month clothes...which means you don't live in those newborn white onesies anymore

  • You are now sleeping in the pac-n-play without the bouncy seat

  • You still like to be swaddled at night but you have to have your hands by your face

  • You are smiling a lot more and on purpose...it's so sweet

  • You still don't have a daytime routine. You typically eat, stay awake for a little while, and then sleep...but your nap times vary depending on your mood each day

  • You are eating about 3 oz every three hours at 8, 11, 2, and 5.

  • You have started cooing more...it's so cute

  • You love riding in the car but you get very upset when we stop at the red lights

  • You are enjoying our strolls around the neighborhood...you actually stay awake now

  • You have started giving us a pitiful face and poking out your bottom lip when you get upset...it just melts our hearts

  • You've really started enjoying your baths, you just smile and coo the whole time

  • You love your pacifier but you've also started eating your hands a lot

  • You enjoy laying on your play mat for short periods and you sometimes get your arms going enough to bat at the toys

  • When you get mad at daddy, you kick one leg really fast and stomp your heel

  • You love to stare at the lights and the fan even when it's off

  • You hate tummy time unless you're laying on mommy or daddy

  • You really like to eat...and you get really mad when we take your bottle away to burp you

We also celebrated Josh's 27th birthday last week. Owen and I surprised him with a picnic lunch at Wilson Park... we had a great time. I think there will be a lot more picnics in the future. Thanks to Beema, Josh and I celebrated his birthday with a date night. We had dinner at Theo's and then went to see RAIN at the Walton Arts Center.

Birthday Pie!! Thanks Emily L.
